Screen Divider makes it easy to ensure that the distance between two or more screen elements, such as rendered data, remains the same.

When you first launch Screen Divider, you’ll notice three parallel vertical lines set at the default distance of 100 pixels apart. Use the buttons marked ‘-5’, ‘-1’, ‘+1’, and ‘+5’ to increase and decrease the space between these lines, and click and drag the Width and Length buttons to adjust the appearance of your measurement lines. Need more than three lines? Just right-click on the divider, then select ‘Add New’, then either ‘Add New Line’ or ‘Add Two New Lines’.

When you are ready to measure for equal distances, just click on the large circle that displays the pixel distance and drag the divider to the portion of the screen that you wish to measure. If you need to measure distances between elements at an angle, just click on the large circle at the bottom of the divider and rotate the tool to match the desired angle. You’ll notice that the angle measurement changes to reflect the current orientation.

To measure Cobb Angles, you need to add a second Screen Divider – just right-click anywhere on the first divider, select Add New, then click on Add New Divider. Once the second divider is displayed, right-click on either of the two dividers and select Show Cobb Angle to display a results window showing the angles of each divider and the resulting Cobb Angle. You’ll notice that the results window updates in real time as you modify the angles of your dividers onscreen!

Screen Divider gives you two easy ways to confirm that lines on your screen are parallel.

Using one divider and an odd number of lines, you can line up the middle line with the first line to be measured, then expand the distance between lines until the second line to be measured is met by a measurement line. If the lines match up precisely, they are parallel.

Another method of confirming parallel lines uses two dividers. Place one divider so that the middle measurement line aligns with the first line to be measured, then do the same with a second divider and the second line to be measured. If the angles of both screen dividers are the same, your lines are parallel!

Screen Divider offers the possibility to change the way the application looks. While using a certain skin you could always use the "Show Easy View" menu option (right click the Screen Divider) to better read the Divider values.

If you want Screen Divider to automatically start with a certain skin, arm length, distance between arms, arm count and unit of measurement then you can set all these properties inside the Control Panel window.
