When you place double quotes in a palette's name it completely wipes out everything in the pallettes.xml file - essentially all your palettes are wiped out! Here's the palette name that did it for me:

IVI - "V" Color Shades

Changing the double quotes to single quotes eliminates the problem. But if I hadn't been doing nightly backups, I'd be SOL! ColorPic needs to sense the double quotes before processing the name.

It's interesting to see that this 'ancient' problem still exists in modern languages and data formats. Double quotes have been problematic ever since data files were "invented"!
